Non-exclusive Publishing Agreement

Part of SERIAL Publishing’s mission is to help authors gain more exposure for their work. For this reason, we do not ask for a transfer of copyright, exclusivity, first-publish rights. We ask that authors provide non-exclusive publishing rights to SERIAL Publishing.

Rights Maintained by Author:

Authors maintain ownership of their Copyright at all times. This allows them to, among other things, distribute their work digitally or license their work to other publishers. Additionally, SERIAL recognizes that authors may want to seek out other publishers for novel-length work. SERIAL Publishing agrees to never publish any submitted serialized fiction as a stand-alone novel without providing the author with a separate contract.

Rights Granted to SERIAL Publishing:

Authors give SERIAL Publishing the right to publish (i.e., print, publish, and sell) their work in all languages and countries, both in digital and print formats. SERIAL Publishing also maintains the ongoing, but non-exclusive, right to publish and republish the piece within SERIAL magazines and anthologies (i.e. “Best of” issues).

The Author warrants they are the sole author of the work, and generally that they have a complete and unencumbered right to provide the rights they grant to us (especially with regard to previously published material). They also warrant that the work doesn’t invade anyone's copyright or otherwise violate applicable law. The Author agrees to indemnify SERIAL Publishing against any claim or action alleging facts which, if true, constitute a breach of any of the foregoing warranties.
